Egerton Ladies v Manchester City Ladies Reserves

Egerton Ladies 0 – 6 Manchester City Ladies Reserves

Egerton turned out for this prestigious friendly against Manchester City with high hopes of a competitive match, however all hopes were quickly dashed as the visitors gave them a lesson in passing football they might possibly never forget.!

Jayne Goldie and Laura Sheedy stole the show in defence, however restricting a team with this much quality to long shots was only ever going to work temporarily. Egerton tried to play their usual passing game but found it hard to find space and time with the ball. Emily Boon had an opportunity to put Egerton in the lead but couldn’t find the back of the net. It was a joy to watch City pass the ball and Egerton can only be praised for their attitude and commitment for the full 90 minutes.
Emma Smith was excellent and helped Bev Wright in midfield, however Egerton will be glad they don’t play teams like this every week !

The final score was harsh – Egerton refused to be broken down but unfortunately City’s quality from the edge of the box proved superior.
